Island Peak (Imja Tse)

Island Peak Climbing is one of the most popular peaks in Everest Region for peak climbing in Nepal. Island peak is listed as NMA trekking peak and hence the permit logistics are much simplified. First ascent was by British Everest Expedition Team in 1953. ethnically Island Peak Climbing is simple and offering superb panorama views of Khumbu area. Island Peak is located at the foot of Lhotse South Face on one of the ridges of Lhotse. The view of imposing 3000 m/9800 ft Lhotse South Face is stunning beyond the imagination with all its mighty peaks Nuptse, main Lhotse summit 8500m/27,870 ft, Lhotse Middle Peak as yet still unclimbed and Lhotse Shar. To the east of this classic trekking peak rising above the frozen waves of the Lhotse Shar Glacier, the ChoPolu 6734 m/22,080 ft and the red granite mass of Makalu 8,475 m/27,790 ft can be viewed. To the south Baruntse 7129 m/23,389 ft towers over 1000 m/3300 ft above Island Peak and majestic Amadablam 6812 m/22,349 ft raises to the west of Baruntse. Everest is just behind the Lhotse and Kanchenjunga is hidden by Makalu. View aside the attraction of Island Peak Climbing is its accessibility moderated climbers as independent objective and to adventurous trekkers as guided objective. The island Peak Climb is typically done with acclimatization hike to the Everest Base Camp.
