Ama Dablam Expedition

Considered one of the most technically challenging peaks to climb, the Ama Dablam Expedition requires climbers to obtain a special permit from the Nepal Ministry of Tourism and be accompanied by a government-appointed liaison officer. As the third most popular Himalayan peak for permitted expeditions, Ama Dablam presents a true test for mountaineers.

On 13 March 1961, the first ascent of Mount Ama Dablam was achieved by a team comprising Mr. Mike Gill from New Zealand, Barry Bishop from the United States, Mike Ward from the United Kingdom, and Wally Romanes, also from New Zealand. The route to the Ama Dablam Expedition begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through the stunning Khumbu valley, immersing you in the rich Sherpa culture. After approximately five days, you will reach the base camp of Ama Dablam. The typical climbing route takes you along the southwest ridge, combining snow, ice, and rock climbing sections with fixed anchors and ropes.

Best Season for Ama Dablam Expedition

The best time to climb Ama Dablam is during the autumn season, from early September until December. Climbers have the highest chance of reaching the summit during this time. While some people also choose to climb in the spring, there is a lower chance of success.

Itinerary


Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu. Welcome Dinner with a climbing guide and expedition tea.

Day 2-3 In Kathmandu preparation for Ama Dablam Expedition and brief by our travel operator and climbing Sirdar.

Day 4 Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,820m), trek to Phakding (2,640m), 4 hrs.

Flight to Lukla from Kathmandu or Rammechhap Manthali then trek to Phakding or Monjo depend flight time and weather.

Day 5 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), 5 hrs.

Trek to Namche Bazaar all the way to Everest Base Camp Trek 

Day 6 Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

Acclimatization day at Namche hike up to Khumjung or Khunde village and back to Namche.

Day 7 Trek to Tengboche (3,867m), 5 hrs.

Trekking to Tengbuche and in Tengbuche you also take to monastery by our guide.

Day 8 Trek to Pangboche, 3 - 4 hrs.

Trek to Pangbuche very short way today but you will take by our guide little acclimatize then back to Pangbuche from Pangbuche you will go right side to the Amadablam base camp after crossing the River.

Day 9 Trek to Ama Dablam Base Camp, 3 - 4 hrs.

Trek to ABC and Amadablam.

Day 10 Collecting your equipment.

Collect all your climbing gear and check everything what you have then from Next day up to C1 for acclimatization.

Day 11 Climb up to Camp one.

Trek and climb up C1 and overnight at Ama dablam Camp one.

Day 12 Climb up to Camp two.

Climb continue Amadablam Camp two.

Day 13 Come back to Base Camp for rest.

Come back to Base camp for rest and relax.

Day 14 Rest day at Base Camp.

Whole day rest and chatting with family friend and relax.
