Upper Mustang trek is an ideal trek to observe Tibetan plateau and culture; visiting Upper Mustang is like visiting Tibet. The remote trans-Himalayan village even after its inclusion in Nepalese territory, entry was banned to foreign travelers till 1992.

Consequently, it drew much attention as a prohibited Kingdom. Since 1992 Nepal Government Department of Immigration started to issue special trekking permits to a small number of trekkers. This trek provides spectacular views of whitewashed settlements, ancient palace and the simple monasteries in the rain shadow of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. It is home to wonderful landscapes and colorful barren hills holding interesting myths.
